With over 50 years of experience in the financial services industry, Paul Carrubba’s multifaceted career spans banking operations management, software development, consulting, legal practice, teaching, and authorship. His extensive knowledge, unique insights, and experience in bank operations and banking law have solidified his position as a leading expert in the field.
Paul began his banking career at Deposit Guaranty National Bank, serving for over twenty years and ultimately as Senior Vice President and Manager of Operations. He was pivotal in operations ranging from check processing and check fraud detection to cash management. He notably introduced systems against new account fraud and check kiting. Moreover, Paul held leadership roles, including Chairman of the Southern Financial Exchange, a board member and executive committee at NACHA, and Chairman of the Operations Committee for the Mississippi Bankers Association.
After his tenure at Deposit Guaranty National Bank, Paul significantly impacted banking operations consultation and software business management. He co-founded CHW & Associates, Inc., focusing on bank operations and litigation support, while offering training seminars on banking laws and serving as Of Counsel to the law firm of Heidelberg, Woodliff, and Franks. Later, as Executive Vice President and Managing Director at Carreker Corp.'s Global Payments Group, he oversaw software business units, product management, and provided expert consultation to major banks globally.

Since 1992, Paul worked as a private practitioner, providing his legal services and consultation to financial institutions. in 2003, he joined the law firm of Watkins Ludlam Winter & Stennis, P.A., as a shareholder in the Regulated Industries Group. In 2005 Paul joined Adams and Reese LLP as Special Counsel, and in 2006 was named Partner in the firm.
Paul is the founding member of Carrubba & Associates LLC and continues his Of Counsel role at Adams and Reese LLP. His national reputation has significantly expanded Adams and Reese LLP's banking practice, with areas that include checks, wire transfers, automated clearinghouse transactions, and the corresponding laws and regulations.
Paul Carrubba was a member of the faculty of the Alabama Bankers Association, Mississippi Bankers Association, and a current faculty member of the NACHA Payments Institute, teaching courses on Article 4A of the Uniform Commercial Code.
Paul frequently speaks at industry trade organization events, vendor user conferences, and webinars on numerous banking topics, including payment processing, fraud detection, fund transfers, security procedures, and laws and regulations.
He has also taught courses at the Bank Administration Institute on his book, “Principles of Banking,” as well as topics such as demand deposits, savings deposits, trust services, and money and banking.
